These beautiful, natural fibre “Bilums” (Meaning “womb” in the local “Tok Pisin” Language) are meticulously handcrafted, using traditional weaving methods, by woman in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. They were traditionally used to carry anything from firewood and vegetables, to piglets and babies and were once adorned with feathers, shells and other decorations. Due to the handmade process and traditional fibres used to create your piece, imperfections are normal and add to the charm of your piece. Some natural softening and colour change may occur over time.
